SG Map Formation
As part of the SG Heart Map’s initiative to involve the community some 1,000 members of the public, community groups and students, turned up to create a one-of-a-kind SG Map Formation with balloons at Bishan - Ang Mo Kio Park. The composite picture of a heart within the outline of the Singapore map, embodied the theme of SG Heart Map “Home is where the Heart is”.
SG Heart Map Kite Festival
Many families with children also took part in the SG Heart Map Kite Festival and all those at the park were also treated to a series of kite displays by professional kite flyers. In the evening, audience at the concert were also treated to a spectacular night kite display where 10 remote-controlled kites dazzled the skies with bright LED streamers to the melodious music of Pachelbel’s “Canon in D” as performed by local group, the Lorong Boys.
SG Heart Map Festival Walk
In celebration of our childhood and drawing inspiration from the SG Heart Map contributions, 10 local writers/poets, led by Kenny Leck of independent bookstore BooksActually, created prose or poetry about our childhood experiences and treasured places. The prose and poems were printed on the 10 brightly lit inflatables which illuminated the SG Heart Map Festival Walk well into the night.
Premiere of 50 First Kisses – An SG Heart Map Film by Royston Tan
Under a slowly darkening night sky, audience at the concert were also treated to the premiere of 50 First Kisses - An SG Heart Map Film by Singapore’s very own acclaimed film director, Royston Tan. Creatively weaving several stories of Singaporeans’ memories set against the backdrop of iconic landmarks, the premiere of 50 First Kisses ended with cheers all around.
